Examining the Role of AI tools in Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary education: A Comprehensive Study

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in education, which is undergoing a paradigm shift from traditional teaching and learning methods to personalized, technology-driven approaches. Artificial intelligence (AI), which is defined as the replication of human intellect through machine skills including perception, reasoning, learning, and prediction, is transforming classrooms by facilitating personalized instructional pathways, automating administrative work, and assisting teachers in identifying the demands of their students. This study systematically examines the role of AI tools across primary, secondary and higher secondary education and underscores their diverse applications at each stage. At the primary level, AI fosters literacy development, gamified learning and creative expression. In secondary education, it supports adaptive assessments, personalized tutoring and inclusive learning environments. At the higher secondary stage, AI strengthens STEM education, enhances digital literacy and equips students with future-ready skills. While AI adoption in education is expanding, persistent challenges such as equity, teacher preparedness, ethical concerns and policy clarity demand attention. This study employs a comprehensive review using secondary data to examine the role of AI tools, analyze their impact and future directions for inclusive and sustainable integration.
