The Impact of Digital Transformation on Customer Satisfaction in International Youth Hostels Evidence from Egypt

The beginning of the 21st century witnessed significant advancements in technologies such as mobile phones, data processors, distributed computing, storage, and digital cellular networks, marking substantial progress in these areas. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that in recent years, the scholarly interest in digital transformation (DT) research has grown significantly. Therefore, this research aims to identify the impact of DT on customer satisfaction in international youth hostels: evidence from Egypt. This research developed all measurements using scales suggested by previous authors. The researcher followed the comprehensive inventory method. A five-point Likert scale was used to test the attitude of the participants toward research variables. Participants in this survey are employees of youth hostels, and they number 233 participants. Data collected were analyzed using SPSS (23) statistical tool. The research found that the digital transformation has a positive influence on customer satisfaction in youth hostels. Furthermore, the results revealed that youth hostels do not seek to attract workers with capabilities in information systems and software. The results showed that devices and computers inside youth hostels are not constantly updated. On the other hand, the results showed that youth hostel workers are keen to respond to guests' inquiries at the youth hostel as quickly as possible. Likewise, the results showed that the workers in the youth hostels are committed to solving any problems that the guests face in the youth hostel. Based on the findings, the Ministry of Youth and Sports should provide youth cities with more human cadres that contribute to providing distinguished service to guests in youth hostels. Furthermore, youth hostel managers should be keen to attract employees with skills in information systems and software. Finally, youth hostel managers should ensure that youth hostels improve their reputation by providing better services than their competitors.
