An Economic Study of the Marketing Efficiency of Grape Crops in Behera Governorate
This research aims to study and analyze the marketing efficiency of grapes in Egypt, one of the most important horticultural crops with high economic value, due to the diversity of its varieties and the increasing demand for it both locally and internationally. Despite the expansion of grape cultivation and increased productivity, the marketing system still faces numerous challenges that impact farmers' profitability and overall market efficiency. The study relied on field research that included a sample of farmers and intermediaries in the Nubaria region of Beheira Governorate. Data was collected on marketing costs, selling prices, types of marketing channels, levels of loss and spoilage, and the availability of marketing information among various parties. The research used a set of economic and marketing indicators to measure efficiency, such as marketing efficiency, marketing margins, and the producer's share of the final selling price. It also analyzed costs and profits at each marketing stage. The results showed a clear disparity in efficiency between different marketing channels. Costs and margins increased in long channels involving a large number of intermediaries, leading to a lower share of the final price for the producer and an increased burden on the consumer.
