Evaluating the Impact of Digital Tourism Platforms on Tourists’ Satisfaction at the Egyptian Tourist Destination

Recently, digital tourism platforms have become essential tools shaping travelers’ decisions, expectations, and overall satisfaction with tourism destinations. With the rapid advancement of information and communication technologies, tourists increasingly rely on online platforms—such as booking websites, social media, review portals, and virtual tour applications—to obtain information, compare services, and share travel experiences. These platforms play a vital role not only in facilitating trip planning but also in influencing perceptions of service quality, destination image, and value for money. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of digital tourism platforms and their impact on tourists’ satisfaction at Egyptian tourist destinations. A descriptive analytical approach was adopted using an online questionnaire designed to suit the research context and reduce unreliable responses. The survey was administered over a three-month period from June to October 2025 and targeted 459 domestic and international tourists visiting Egyptian destinations. The findings reveal that digital platforms significantly influence tourists’ experiences across all travel stages—before, during, and after the visit—by providing accessible information, enhancing service quality, and facilitating interaction with tourism services. However, despite Egypt’s rich cultural, historical, and natural resources, the current performance of digital tourism platforms remains below potential due to system fragmentation, weak coordination among stakeholders, limited interactivity, and infrequent content updates. These limitations negatively affect tourists’ satisfaction and undermine the destination’s overall image. Consequently, the study recommends developing an integrated and unified digital tourism platform to improve information accessibility, enhance service delivery, strengthen stakeholder collaboration, and foster continuous engagement with tourists, thereby increasing tourist satisfaction, enhancing Egypt’s competitiveness, and supporting sustainable tourism development.
