Effect of Telenursing Education on Renal Transplanted Patients Regarding Quality of Life.

Background: Telenursing has emerged as a valuable approach to provide remote nursing care and education. Renal transplantation is considered the most effective treatment for end-stage renal disease, yet it demands continuous follow-up and patient education to ensure optimal quality of life. Aim of the study: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of telenursing education on renal transplanted patients regarding quality of life. Design: A quasi experimental research design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Outpatients Clinic for follow-up kidney transplantation affiliated to Nasser Institute Hospital for Treatment and Research. Sample: A Purposive sample of 100 transplanted patients of both sex. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection, Tool I: A structured Interviewing questionnaire: Part I:Socio-demographic characteristics of renal transplanted patients, Part II: Patients` medical history, Part III: knowledge about renal transplantation and telenursing Tool II: Renal transplanted patients’ attitude. Tool III: The Kidney Transplant Patients Quality of Life (KTQ). Results: 68.0% and 70.0% of tele-nursing and control groups respectively aged from 21 to less than 31 years old, with the mean ±SD 30.21±5.62 and 29.51 ±5.11 years respectively. 88.0% and 82.0% of tele-nursing and control groups respectively were females. Conclusion: Renal transplant patients who received the telenursing education showed significant improvement in their knowledge, attitudes, and quality of life regarding post-transplant care. There was a highly statistically significant positive correlation between patients’ total knowledge and positive attitudes, as well as between their knowledge and reported quality of life scores pre- and post-telenursing. Recommendations: Continuous tele-nursing educational program should be applied for renal transplantation patients.
