Mandibular Continuity and Morphological Reorganization in the Genus Homo

This annex examines mandibular morphological continuity and reorganization across early and Middle Pleistocene Homo populations. It focuses on patterns of functional stabilization and morphological coherence that persist despite taxonomic variability in the fossil record. The analysis provides anatomical support for the TBTA framework by showing that mandibular continuity is more consistent with population-level reticular dynamics than with discrete species replacement models. This document is intended as a technical supplement to the main TBTA framework paper and prepares the ground for subsequent annexes addressing founder lineages and large-scale evolutionary structuring.

Abstract

This annex examines mandibular morphological continuity and reorganization across early and Middle Pleistocene Homo populations. It focuses on patterns of functional stabilization and morphological coherence that persist despite taxonomic variability in the fossil record. The analysis provides anatomical support for the TBTA framework by showing that mandibular continuity is more consistent with population-level reticular dynamics than with discrete species replacement models. This document is intended as a technical supplement to the main TBTA framework paper and prepares the ground for subsequent annexes addressing founder lineages and large-scale evolutionary structuring.
