NOTES ON THE ASTRAL ENTITY "spdt" FROM A COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE BETWEEN THE PYRAMID AND COFFIN TEXTS "ANALYTICAL STUDY OF ESSENCE, CONCEPT, AND DOCTRINAL SYMBOLISM"
Ancient Egyptian sources mentioned the astronomical cycles and cosmic paths of some celestial bodies, including the star entity spdt. The cycles and paths of those celestial bodies were used, such as "the cycle of spdt and its stellar path", "the cycle of the sun and its daily path", "the cycle of the moon and its monthly path", "the cycle of the flood and its seasonal path". The research topic aims to unveil the underlying content, context and nature of the astral entity called "spdt" from a comparative perspective in the Pyramid and Coffin Texts in light of an analytical study of its essence, concept, and doctrinal symbolism, which is inevitably linked to the study of the cycle of stars and the annual path of Sirius (spdt), which served as symbolic indications and embodied entities aimed at helping the deceased achieve and attain immortality. This was evident in light of the scientific perspective that linked the astral entity spdt to the celestial world, the paths of celestial bodies, and the orbits of cosmic spheres on the one hand, and on the other hand in light of the doctrinal perspective inherent in ancient Egyptian beliefs, as well as in light of ancient Egyptian sources in general and the Pyramid and Coffin Texts in particular. The ancient Egyptians interpreted celestial bodies, including the astral entity under study, as one of the means of obtaining resurrection, rebirth, and renewed life. Therefore, the current study seeks to clarify the nature and concept of the astral entity spdt and the symbolic content inherent in it from a comparative perspective in ancient Egyptian sources, applied to the Pyramid and Coffin Texts.
