New colorimetric rhodamine–helicene “OFF–ON” fluorescence sensor based on FRET for quantitative and qualitative Hg 2+ determination

A fluorescent sensor (DGM), integrating rhodamine 6G and [5]helicene, enables highly selective Hg²⁺ detection with a 21 ppb limit observed as a distinct colourimetric change. Its sensitivity and on-site applicability make it ideal for monitoring mercury in water samples.

Abstract

A fluorescent sensor (DGM), integrating rhodamine 6G and [5]helicene, enables highly selective Hg²⁺ detection with a 21 ppb limit observed as a distinct colourimetric change. Its sensitivity and on-site applicability make it ideal for monitoring mercury in water samples.
