Hydroxylammonium nitrate: synthesis, cocrystals, and properties

Hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN), an oxidizer in liquid propellants, cannot be used in solid propellants because of its extreme hygroscopicity. Presented are the first examples of HAN cocrystals; these feature dramatically suppressed hygroscopicity.

Abstract

Hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN), an oxidizer in liquid propellants, cannot be used in solid propellants because of its extreme hygroscopicity. Presented are the first examples of HAN cocrystals; these feature dramatically suppressed hygroscopicity.
