Synthesis of Sulfonyl Fluorides Using 4-Cyanopyridone as a Leaving Group
Sulfonyl fluoride (SO2F) has gained attention since sulfur-fluoride exchange was introduced in 2014. Existing SO2F synthesis methods face challenges such as the use of toxic gases and the generation of hydrogen fluoride. Here, we report a method using 4-cyanopyridone as a leaving group. This reaction works smoothly with diverse substrates, including aromatic, aliphatic, and sterically hindered compounds, as well as esters, amides, and heteroatoms, to overcome the limitations of traditional methods.
