Anti-interference circularly polarized LiDAR for ocean detection
LiDAR has unique advantages for ocean detection. However, its detection range and accuracy are often degraded by variable interference from sunlight and multiply scattered light, which remains a persistent challenge for the quantitative evaluation of ocean-color parameters. This study introduces an anti-interference circularly polarized LiDAR (ACPL) to effectively suppress sunlight and multiply scattered light. Field experiments in the South China Sea show that using a green laser, the underwater profiling range of ACPL exceeds 75 m during the day and 100 m at night. Besides, ACPL enables more accurate retrievals of ocean-color parameter. These results show the effectiveness of circularly polarized light in suppressing the interference and enhancing the detection performance of ocean LiDAR, underscoring its potential for diurnal ocean remote sensing. Solar background and multiple scattering degrade the profiling depth and ocean-color parameter retrieval of ocean LiDAR. Our anti-interference circularly polarized LiDAR effectively suppresses these sources of interference and improves the detection performance, highlighting its potential for diurnal ocean remote sensing.
