Trends of Tobacco and Alcohol Consumption Among People with Diabetes Mellitus in Spain: A Population-Based Study (2014–2020)
Between 2014 and 2020, both tobacco and alcohol consumption remained stable among individuals with DM. The prevalence of alcohol consumption was lower among those with than without DM. Key predictors of tobacco and alcohol consumption included sex, lifestyle behaviors, and socioeconomic factors. These findings highlight the need for targeted public health interventions to reduce harmful substance use in DM populations and mitigate associated health risks.
