Analysis of contemporary issues and prospects for the development of communicative competence in pediatric practice
The subject of this article's research is a comprehensive analysis of the current problems and prospects for the development of communicative competence in pediatricians. The focus is on the structure, assessment methods, and pathways for forming this professional construct within clinical practice and the educational process. The authors view communicative competence as a key element of the patient-centered model of medical care, which directly influences the quality of interaction in the triad of "doctor-child-parent," treatment adherence, the psychological safety of the patient, and the effectiveness of the therapeutic alliance. Special emphasis is placed on the necessity for age-appropriate, empathetic, and ethically sound communication that aligns with the cognitive and emotional characteristics of children from various age groups, as well as the expectations of their families. The research aims to theoretically generalize and systematize contemporary scientific data to identify the key components of communicative competence, analyze existing assessment tools, and develop practical recommendations for integrating relevant competencies into medical education programs and clinical protocols. The research methodology is based on a qualitative analytical-synthetic review of the scientific literature. The work was carried out through systematic searches, selection, and thematic analysis of publications from 2000 to 2025 from the databases PubMed, Google Scholar, CyberLeninka, and eLibrary. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the integration of disparate theoretical and empirical data and the justification of an original four-component model of pediatric communicative competence. Unlike traditional approaches, the authors highlight a creative component as an independent and equal factor, acting as a systemic integrator and adaptive resource in non-standard clinical situations. A comparative analysis of validated assessment tools (PCAT, KEECC) and pathways for transferring modern educational technologies into pediatric practice was also conducted. The main conclusions of the work confirm the evolution in the understanding of communicative competence from an authoritarian model to a comprehensive partnership system. It is established that effective formation requires the synergy of cognitive, behavioral, emotional-volitional, and creative elements. Key implementation challenges were identified, such as a lack of psychosocial training and a mismatch between communication styles and family expectations. Practical recommendations are proposed for modernizing educational programs through the introduction of specialized modules, simulation training, and the development of emotional intelligence.
