Avaliacao da aptidao física em novos universitários: comparacao entre os géneros

The objective of the study was to evaluate the physical aptitude in new university students of the Degree in Physical Exercise Sciences of the Technological Institute of Sonora, from the comparison between gender. The sample consisted of 116 students, of which 87 (75%) were men and 29 (25%) were women, ages ranging from 17 and 26 years. Data were used according to the categorical variable gender and the numerical variables Push-ups, Abdominals, Jumping, Flexibility, Motor Skills and Swimming. The statistical test for comparison of T means for independent samples was used to identify possible significant differences when comparing the numerical variables by gender. The results showed that in the push-ups and flexibility variables there is no significant difference by gender, with a p>0.05 (p=.133 and p=.753 respectively), while in the Abdominal and Jump variables there is a significant difference by gender, with a p<0.05 (p=.003 and p=.000 respectively), while in the Motor Skills variable there is no significant difference by gender, with a p>.05 (p=.828) and in the Swimming variable there is a difference significant by gender, with a p<0.05 (p=.000). In conclusion, it can be mentioned that physical fitness is a particular issue for each person, therefore, with what was obtained in this study, men were classified in the leve lof physical fitness as deficient, while women were aceptable, according to the scale of five categories of literal and numerical ratings.
