US-guided Nanosecond Pulsed Electric Field Ablation of Low-risk PTMC: Interim Results of a Prospective Multicenter Study
nsPEF ablation under general anesthesia for low-risk PTMC is effective and safe, with the only major complication of transient thyrotoxicosis in more than 50% of patients, which might be caused by the release of thyroid hormones into the bloodstream due to irreversible electroporation. It appears to offer better absorption of the ablated lesions in the short term, potentially increasing its clinical use. Further short- and long-term study is needed.
