Reference Architecture and Integration of VHP Platform I

The COMFORTage project aims to develop an innovative virtualized AI-based healthcare platform to support personalized treatments and improve the quality of life for aging populations, focusing on those affected by dementia and frailty. This document presents the system architecture of the project’s envisioned platform, including details of the technical specifications of the components comprising the platform, as well as several implementation details that will form the foundation for the integration of components within the COMFORTage platform. The platform consists of several components that focus on providing different functionality to the COMFORTage ecosystem. These can be categorized into: data ingestion and harmonization, data lake management, personalized patient treatment and monitoring tools, integrated care model library services, training and educational platform, people-centric assistive applications and user/system authentication and authorisation. Once the key components of the COMFORTage platform were identified, a methodology was set up to design the platform’s system architecture. To begin with, the methodology leveraged a state-of-the-art reference architecture model as a basis for identifying the core cross-cutting functions and system properties of the platform that need to be addressed by its components. Based on these functions and properties, several interfaces and technical specifications related to each platform component were then gathered. After consolidating the collected information, a component interaction diagram was designed, representing the relationship and intercommunication requirements between the various platform components. The component interaction scheme will serve as the initial system architecture of the project’s platform aiming to provide a secure, interoperable and patient-oriented healthcare solution. Furthermore, the system architecture presented in this deliverable is not only aligned with cutting-edge technology but also emphasizes usability, trustworthiness and adaptability, ensuring the platform’s sustainability and scalability for future healthcare challenges in the fields of dementia and frailty, and beyond. Importantly, there will be two more versions of this deliverable (i.e., D2.9 – “Reference Architecture and Integration of VHP Platform II” and D2.10 – “Reference Architecture and Integration of VHP Platform III” to be submitted in months M24 and M38, respectively). These future versions will contain revisions and enhancements and serve to document the necessary changes to the initial VHP system architecture as more information becomes available and as new requirements and constraints for the platform arise.
