Campingplätze als überraschender Lebensraum für heimische und eingeschleppte Pflanzen – ein erster Bericht über Beobachtungen in Oberösterreich, Salzburg und Südostbayern

Abstract From May to June 2025, the author searched 47 campsites and caravan sites in the federal states of Upper Austria, Salzburg and south-east Bavaria for plants. It was found that the vegetation consists of typical grassland species, some of which came from green cover seeding, as well as introduced species. The latter were unintentionally brought in by vehicles, tourists, tents, mats etc. Some new species have been recorded for the area or the federal states, including even occurrences in high abundance where establishment can even be assumed. Although there were differences between the individual campsites in terms of vegetation, one group of plants was found on almost all of them. New records for Upper Austria are Ranunculus muricatus , R. parviflorus and Veronica acinifolia , for the province of Salzburg Alchemilla australis , Ranunculus muricatus , R. parviflorus and Sclerochloa dura , for Bavaria Crassula tillaea , Galium murale , Ranunculus parviflorus , Sabulina mediterranea and Trifolium scabrum . Photos are shown of the more interesting species. A comparison with other publications on campsite plants and the findings to date are discussed with regard to their known distribution. As camping continues to be a strong trend, further introductions are to be expected in the future. This publication is intended to motivate further investigations.
