The Breathing Universe: 603_The Living Continuum
The Breathing Universe Model (BUM) proposes that physical reality is governed by a dynamic vacuum tension field, H(t), whose slow, oscillatory structure defines coherence conditions across all scales. Rather than treating time as a static parameter or energy as a fixed quantity, the model reformulates spacetime as a breathing geometry in which expansion-like and contraction-like components remain in continuous balance. This work extends the BUM framework from cosmology into biology and cognition, demonstrating that living systems can be understood as self-stabilized, resonant structures embedded within the same oscillatory vacuum dynamics. Biological organization is shown to arise from the coordinated cycling of four operator modes—excitation, integration, structural coherence, and equilibrium—corresponding to the light-, shadow-, color-, and zero-line components of the breathing field. Life persists when these modes remain phase-aligned without producing net directional bias. A central result is that coherence, rather than energy magnitude or signal strength, governs stability, metabolism, neural function, and awareness. Neural consciousness is modeled as a multi-band phase-coherent state, mathematically analogous to the phase coherence observed in Pulsar Timing Array (PTA) measurements of low-frequency spacetime fluctuations. The correspondence between cosmological and biological rhythms is shown to be structural and harmonic, not causal signaling, arising from shared vacuum geometry. The model makes testable, falsifiable predictions across cosmology, biophysics, neuroscience, and physiology, including log-harmonic clustering of stable frequencies, coherence windows governing biological viability, and population-level evolutionary tendencies under slow drift of vacuum balance parameters. These predictions are statistical and ensemble-based rather than deterministic for individuals. The Breathing Universe Model provides a unified geometric framework in which cosmology, life, and consciousness emerge as scale-dependent expressions of the same underlying coherence dynamics.
