(Re)telling a glass room: experiments in reproducing an interior chronotope, in text, image, and textile
This article will reflect on the experimental reproduction of a fragile glass room in a castle in Rajasthan in western India. I encountered this room by accident in 2011; and in 2019 I returned to study it as part of my PhD. This article extends that research, reflecting on the process of reproduction in greater detail. It will include short stories, drawings and textiles, and images of the sketches and models which were used to create these artifacts. It will situate this process of reproduction as a form of historical fiction, which ‘thirds’ binaries between history and heritage, scientific preservation, and creative remaking.
