Optical Characterization of Organic Dyes in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell Application
Abstract— This research focuses on the Optical Characterization of Organic Dyes intended for dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) applications. The study involved analyzing the absorbance spectra and their corresponding transmittance of different natural samples of plant extracts, using Spectrophotometer across various wavelengths ranging from 400 nm to 700 nm. Substantial variations in absorbance and transmittance values were observed among the samples, highlighting the unique optical properties of each natural dye: Sample A exhibited varying absorbance levels across the spectrum, with peaks observed at 500 nm and 550 nm. Sample B showed significant absorbance at 400 nm and 650 nm, with relatively lower values at other wavelengths. Sample C displayed moderate absorbance, particularly at 500 nm and 550 nm. Sample D had minimal absorbance overall, with minor peaks at 400 nm and 550 nm. The distinct absorbance patterns of the organic dyes suggest their potential suitability for different roles within dye-sensitized solar cell applications. Further exploration of these dyes' efficiency and stability in actual solar cell devices could yield valuable insights for optimizing solar energy conversion technologies.
