Redefining Breast Rejuvenation: Current Aesthetic Approaches in Mastopexy
Background: Mastopexy plays a central role in aesthetic breast rejuvenation, targeting correction of ptosis while restoring youthful projection, upper pole fullness, and symmetry. Recent innovations emphasize optimizing breast shape and minimizing scar burden without compromising long-term outcomes. Methods: This review summarizes current concepts and evidence-based strategies in mastopexy, focusing on patient selection, technique planning, parenchymal reshaping, and approaches to reduce recurrent ptosis. Special attention is given to vertical and limited-scar patterns, augmentation–mastopexy considerations, and emerging internal support technologies. Results: Contemporary mastopexy techniques demonstrate high rates of patient satisfaction and low major complication rates when performed by experienced surgeons. Aesthetic shortcomings tend to relate to scar quality and recurrent ptosis rather than functional failures. Hybrid approaches integrating implants, fat grafting, and soft-tissue support systems show promise in improving upper pole stability and aesthetic longevity. Conclusion: Aesthetic mastopexy continues to evolve toward personalized, anatomy-driven strategies that enhance shape retention and optimize scar placement. Future development of internal support and hybrid volume restoration may further refine aesthetic durability.
