Vertex Operator Algebras and Branching Rules for Affine Lie Algebras in Conformal Field Theory: A Motivic Approach to Trans-Finite Modular Invariance
Mathematical Applications of Science Fiction We present a rigorous derivation of the branching rules forconformal embeddings of affine Lie algebras within the frame-work of Vertex Operator Algebras (VOAs). By utilizing themachinery of Zhu’s algebra and the modular tensor categoryof representations of rational VOAs, we construct an explicitisomorphism between the space of conformal blocks and thedual of the coinvariants on the moduli space of stable curves. We analyze the spectral decomposition of the partition func-tions associated with the coset construction ˆg⊕ˆh ⊂ ˆk, provingthat the branching functions are modular forms of weightzero with respect to a congruence subgroup Γ(N ). Further-more, we extend these results to the trans-finite regime, investigating the asymptotic behavior of the fusion coeffi-cients as the central charge c → ∞. We demonstrate that theassociated Hilbert-Schmidt operators on the derived categoryof modules satisfy a generalized Knizhnik-Zamolodchikovequation, providing a novel pathway for non-perturbativeanalysis in high-dimensional Void-Space topologies.
