What Led to JACTEM

What Led to JACTEMSince the earliest moments of my career in Emergency Medicine, I have been always aware that in emergencies, every second matters. The difference between life and death, between full recovery and long-term disability, often hinges not just on what is done, but how fast, how precisely, and how compassionately it is delivered. It is this understanding, this urgency, which led me to establish the Society of Acute Care, Trauma, and Emergency Medicine (SACTEM).Our mission has always been clear: to improve the quality of acute care, trauma, and emergency medical services in India through education, advocacy, and collaboration-ultimately saving lives and reducing suffering. In any medical specialty, academics are the backbone, and journals serve as their lifeline.A journal is not merely a repository of papers; it reflects the latest advances, ongoing research, and innovations within a discipline. For emergency medicine and trauma care in India, however, there existed a glaring void-no dedicated journal truly represented the depth of work being done in this vital field. In the realm of emergency medicine, where every second holds the weight of a life, the need for timely, evidence-based, and globally relevant scholarship has never been more urgent. It is with immense pride and purpose that I introduce the Journal of Acute Care, Trauma and Emergency Medicine (JACTEM)-a scientific platform born from the vision of SACTEM to elevate the standards of care, research, and education in acute and emergency medicine under the able guidance of leading experts across the country and the world.JACTEM is envisioned as a platform to showcase original research, share knowledge, and document best practices in emergency medicine, acute and trauma care. Our goal is to see JACTEM indexed in all the leading global databases such as PubMed, SCOPUS, etc.; thereby giving Indian emergency physicians and researchers the international visibility they deserve. The overwhelming response we have received-reflected in the large number of manuscript submissions from doctors nationwide-has been truly inspiring. It is heartening to witness the enthusiasm of our colleagues who are eager to contribute their experiences, research, and insights to strengthen the discipline. As the founder and president of SACTEM, I envision JACTEM as a journal that not only reflects the diversity and dynamism of emergency medicine in India and beyond, but also sets new benchmarks for integrity, accessibility, and clinical relevance.More importantly, we are determined to provide a nurturing platform for young and budding emergency physicians, encouraging them to publish, learn, and lead.Whether you are a seasoned trauma surgeon, a frontline emergency physician, or a medical student drawn to the pulse of acute care, JACTEM is your platform-your voice in shaping the future of emergency medicine.I am deeply grateful to all the enthusiastic authors, religious reviewers, visionary
