Influence of personality traits on knowledge creation among librarians in university libraries in Ogun State, Nigeria
This study examined the influence of personality traits on knowledge creation among librarians in university libraries in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study employed a survey research design with librarians in universities in Ogun State (106) constituting the population. Total enumeration sampling technique was employed for the study. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The analysis was done using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results of the structural model revealed that extraversion had significant positive effects on socialization, externalization and internalization but no significant effect on combination; conscientiousness showed no significant effect on any of the four modes; agreeableness also did not significantly influence socialization, externalization, combination, or internalization; neuroticism, however, had significant positive effects across socialization, externalization, combination and internalization; openness to experience had no significant effect on any of the modes of knowledge creation among the librarians in university libraries in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study concluded that social and emotional personality dimensions play a stronger role in driving knowledge creation among librarians than cognitive or task-oriented traits. It recommended that university libraries should develop supportive environments that foster interaction, collaboration, and emotional well-being to enhance knowledge creation practices among librarians.
