Distal Expansions of O-Minimal Structures and VC-Density in NIP Theories: A Transfinite Analysis
Mathematical Applications of Science Fiction We investigate the asymptotic combinatorial behavior of de-finable families in transfinite distal expansions of o-minimalstructures. By constructing a hierarchy of L-structures Mαindexed by ordinals α < λ, we analyze the propagation of theNIP property and the stabilization of Vapnik-Chervonenkis(VC) density. We introduce the notion of transfinite dis-tal rank and prove that for any distal expansion of a realclosed field by a dense codense predicate satisfying the Mannproperty, the VC-density of any L-formula is bounded by apolynomial function of the alternation number, modulo atransfinite error term. We further demonstrate that Keislermeasures in such expansions admit a smooth decompositionrelative to the o-minimal core, establishing a generalizedversion of the Distal Cell Decomposition Theorem.
