Welcoming a New Era in Emergency Medicine Literature in India with JACTEM

Welcoming a New Era in Emergency Medicine Literature in India with JACTEMIt is with immense pride and great excitement that we introduce the inaugural issue of the Journal of Acute Care, Trauma and Emergency Medicine (JACTEM).The official launch of this journal marks a significant milestone for the Society of Acute Care, Trauma and Emergency Medicine (SACTEM) and, we believe, for the broader community of emergency and acute care professionals in India and across the globe. This moment denotes not just the launch of a new journal, but also the beginning of a vision-a vision to create a credible, accessible, and impactful academic platform dedicated exclusively to the science and practice of emergency medicine, trauma care, and acute critical illness.Emergency Medicine is a discipline that stands at the frontline of patient care-often the first and last line of defence in saving lives. In this space of urgency and unpredictability, decisions are measured not in hours or days, but in minutes and seconds.Trauma and acute care further expand this spectrum, encompassing some of the most pressing challenges in modern health care.Despite its importance, research output from developing regions, particularly Southeast Asia, has often remained underrepresented in global literature.JACTEM has been conceived to bridge this gap-to amplify voices, highlight innovations, and bring regional and global expertise onto a single platform. The unmet need for a dedicated, high-quality platform to disseminate research, share clinical innovations, and foster academic dialog in the fast-evolving fields of acute care, trauma, and emergency medicine are the thought-processes behind the conceptualization of JACTEM.Our mission can be summarized in a threefold way.Firstly, we aim to advance science by publishing high-quality, peerreviewed research that improves understanding of emergency and trauma care.Secondly, we want to support clinicians by disseminating practical knowledge, evidence-based practices, and context-specific guidelines that can be applied at the bedside.Last but not the least, we are going to build a community by fostering collaboration among emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, nurses, paramedics, and policymakers who together form the ecosystem of acute care.We are particularly committed to amplify voices and perspectives from India and other low-and middle-income countries, where the challenges and opportunities in emergency care are unique and profound. Moreover, JACTEM, being an open-access journal, ensures that knowledge is not restricted by geography, institutional access, or economic barriers. This first issue is a testament to the enthusiasm and collaborative spirit of our community. We are incredibly grateful to the pioneering authors who have entrusted us with their valuable scholarly works spanning from groundbreaking original research to insightful case reports and comprehensive reviews.Every article has been carefully selected and rigorously peer-reviewed to ensure scientific quality, clinical relevance, and ethical integrity. We also extend our deepest appreciation to our diligent peer reviewers, whose expertise and constructive feedback have been instrumental in shaping the quality of this issue. As the Editor-in-Chief, my vision for JACTEM is to foster a culture of structured inquiry, peer-reviewed integrity, and pedagogical creativity. In many respects, JACTEM is the academic heartbeat of what we strive for at SACTEM.We envision it to be indexed at all the global platforms like SCOPUS and PubMed at the earliest.I extend my deepest gratitude to the unwavering support, trust and guidance received from our esteemed editorial board, distinguished senior advisory committee and the founding leadership of SACTEM, especially Dr Lokendra Gupta, whose vision and commitment have been truly instrumental in shaping this endeavor. On behalf of the editorial board, I also extend our sincere gratitude to the whole team at Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd. for their invaluable support in helping us transform this vision into reality. We are confident that JACTEM will grow to become an indispensable resource for all those dedicated to improve patient outcomes and saving lives through excellence in acute and emergency care.As we embark on this journey, we invite you, our readers to submit your research, share your perspectives, and join us in developing an academic movement that truely reflects the dynamism and importance of our field.Together,
