THE DEMOGRAPHIC INVERSION : An Analysis of the Aging "Active" Population of the Social Web

This investigation challenges the prevailing misconception that Generation Z and Generation Alpha are the primary architects of public social media content. By analyzing the "Participation Inversion" of 2024–2025, this report distinguishes between digital consumption and content creation, revealing that while younger cohorts dominate traffic, they have largely retreated to private "Dark Social" channels. Consequently, the public square—defined by status updates, permanent profiles, and civic discourse—has become the exclusive domain of the 30+ demographic. This study explores the psychological and professional drivers that have transformed public posting from a universal digital standard into a legacy behavior of the Millennial and Gen X cohorts. To cite my article:Tripathi, S. Abstract
