Users’ awareness and perception and use of KOHA software for easy access to information resources among library users in Khairun University Library, Kano State, Nigeria

This study investigated users’ awareness and perception of KOHA software for easy access to information resources in Khairun University Library, Kano State, Nigeria. The research employed a descriptive survey design. The study population consisted of 331 students from the Faculty of Allied Sciences. The sample size of the study was 175 (52.87%), which was randomly selected and determined using the Krejcie and Morgan sampling table. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analysed using frequency, percentages and mean. Findings indicated that a majority of the respondents are aware of the existence of KOHA software in the library, a majority of respondents perceive KOHA as useful, reliable, and more efficient than manual library operations, and the majority of users find KOHA software easy to use and navigate information resources available in the library. The study recommended that library as well as university management should organize regular sensitization and orientation programmes to ensure that all users are adequately informed about KOHA’s functions, the library should also obtain feedback from users on KOHA services to identify areas of improvement and enhance user satisfaction, and the library should organize and provide continuous hands-on training and support, ensuring that users can fully explore KOHA’s features for effective access to information resources.
