Analysis of the Relationship among Appearance Management Behavior, Physical-Image, Happiness of University Students majoring in Beauty

The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationships among appearance management behavior, body image, and happiness in university students majoring in beauty. A self-administered online survey was conducted using Google Forms from March 14 to April 29, 2024. A total of 183 valid responses were analyzed. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS 23.0. The results indicated that appearance management behavior had a significant positive effect on body image, and body image positively affected happiness. However, appearance management behavior did not have a direct effect on happiness. Body image satisfaction showed the strongest association with happiness, whereas clothing, skin, and hair management were the major contributors to body image. These findings suggest that enhancing body image satisfaction may play a key role in improving happiness among beauty-major students.
