A polynomial identity and some of its new consequences

In this article, we present a new proof of a polynomial identity studied by Guo [Discrete Math.Lett.8 (2022) 41-48].We also provide new applications of this identity to combinatorial sums involving binomial coefficients and to convolution-type sums with harmonic numbers. Finally, we establish some relations involving Catalan numbers.
