This study aims to assess and analyze the level of digital transformation and its impact on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within Iraqi public sector institutions, through an applied case study at the Wasit General Directorate of Educationspecifically the Information Bank Unit. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and uses a checklist developed around four key dimensions of digital transformation: digital readiness, e-government implementation and automation, digital human capital development, and digital transformation challenges.Data were collected through field visits, direct observations, and written inquiries, then analyzed using weighted means and percentages to determine the level of compliance and the size of implementation gaps. The findings reveal a low overall implementation rate of digital transformation requirements (approximately 39%), with notable gaps particularly in digital human capital development, along with weaknesses in readiness, infrastructure, and supporting regulatory frameworks.Correlation indicators also suggest that the current impact of digital transformation on advancing the SDGs remains limited (weak to moderate), largely due to financial, legislative, organizational, and cybersecurity constraints. The study recommends strategic investment in digital skills, upgrading infrastructure, strengthening governance and legal frameworks for digital transactions, and allocating sustainable financial resources for digital transformation projects to enhance transparency, improve service quality, and support SDG achievement.
