Successful Management of Chronic Upper Back Pain Postspinal Astrocytoma Surgery Using Thoracic Medial Branch Radiofrequency Ablation and Pulsed Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation
Chronic thoracic back pain following spinal surgery remains a challenging clinical entity with multifactorial etiology. This case report presents a 70-year-old male with persistent upper back pain after C3–T1 astrocytoma excision and thoracic fusion surgery. After limited relief from initial conservative and interventional strategies, the patient was successfully managed using thoracic medial branch conventional radiofrequency ablation and pulsed radiofrequency of the dorsal root ganglion. This case underscores the role of targeted neuroablative and neuromodulatory interventions in refractory postoperative thoracic spine pain.
