Chemical water oxidation by nonheme iron catalysts supported by di- and trinucleating N4 donor ligands: unveiling the role of coordinating buffer in directing cooperative catalysis
In a borate buffer, a trinuclear non-heme iron complex exhibits higher catalytic water-oxidation activity than its mononuclear or dinuclear counterparts. Borate-assisted metal–metal cooperativity enhances catalytic efficiency.
