Abstract

This article focuses on the Revista de Antropofagia, considering the interrelations between, on the one hand, the temporal interventions its editors sought to realize by way of a heterodox digestive poetics and, on the other, the very circulation of the magazine as a publication, which is to say, a mediatic production. I explore the intertextual dynamics present in its issues, especially metacommentaries present in the second “dentition,” the theoretical bases that enable the movement’s “digestive power,” and antecedent and contemporaneous aesthetic movements in relation to the figure and role of the Indigenous anthropophagus in the “descent” for an authentically Brazilian Brazil. I contend that our engagement with Antropofagia requires a careful consideration of publication, its temporalities, and the publics it reaches and creates.
