Investigating the fusion dynamics of 40Ca, 48Ti projectiles and 58,64Ni targets
Fusion dynamics of [Formula: see text]Ca [Formula: see text]Ni and [Formula: see text]Ti [Formula: see text]Ni reactions are theoretically investigated by using the Wong formula with spherical and deformed choices of nuclear potential, symmetric-asymmetric Gaussian barrier distribution (SAGBD) model and coupled channel approach. The calculations with the deformed nuclear potential are found enhanced with respect to the calculations of spherical choice of nuclear potential in the Wong formula, but such calculations do not retrieve the fusion data. With an additional radius parameter ([Formula: see text] in the deformed nuclear potential, the estimated cross-sections approximately recover the fusion data for chosen reactions. In the SAGBD model, effects due to distinct nuclear structural properties are comprehensively assimilated by adopting a Gaussian function to the Wong formula and the calculations fairly retrieve all the experimental data points. Furthermore, the effects of low-lying 2[Formula: see text] and 3 − quantum states of fusing pairs are also included in coupled channel calculations to reproduce the fusion data of [Formula: see text]Ca [Formula: see text]Ni and [Formula: see text]Ti [Formula: see text]Ni systems. However, for [Formula: see text]Ca [Formula: see text]Ni reaction, 2[Formula: see text] and 3 − vibrational states of both projectile and target, as well as the neutron transfer channel having a positive Q-value is primarily required for addressing fusion data.
