This study aims to explore Ibn Babshdh's method of grammatical preference through his use of the evaluative expression "this is the correct view" in his commentary on al-Muqaddima al-Musiba.It demonstrates how this phrase reflects his methodological alignment-particularly his inclination toward Basran principles in dealing with grammatical disagreements. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach by tracing all instances in which Ibn Babshdh uses this formula of preference, examining the grammatical issues involved, analyzing the justifications he provides, and comparing them with the positions of the Basran school, especially the views of Sibawayh. The study is structured around a preface and seven applied sections discussing key issues such as: the etymology of the term ism (noun), the inflection of dual forms, the syntactic status of the noun following the temporal particle idh, the rationale behind the building of al-n (now), whether lan is simple or compound, the rule governing the advancement of the specification (tamyz) over its verbal governor, and the agent responsible for raising the subject and predicate. The findings indicate that Ibn Babshdh does not merely report disagreements but tends consistently to endorse Basran positions, explicitly validating the views of Sibawayh. His use of the expression "the correct opinion" serves as a deliberate tool of grammatical evaluation that reveals the strength of his scholarly reasoning and his awareness of the methodological foundations of the grammarians. The study concludes that his analytical approach combines the collection, critique, organization, and rational selection of grammatical views-confirming both his intellectual independence and his firm affiliation with the Basran school.
