Development of Modern Learning in Rural Schools Through the Integration of Local Wisdom Potential

Abstract: This research focuses on how modern learning in rural schools can be developed through the incorporation of local wisdom, educational technology, and Game Based Learning (GBL) approaches. In the era of Education 4.0 which demands the maximum use of digital technology, schools in rural areas need to be able to improve the quality of learning without ignoring the cultural identity of students. Local wisdom contains important values such as togetherness, as well as responsibility, which have a big role in shaping the character of students. However, its use in the learning process is still considered less effective due to the limited insight of teachers, the lack of culture-based teaching media, and inadequate support of technological facilities. This study uses a literature review method with a descriptive-analytical approach to review various studies related to educational technology, local cultural integration in learning, and the application of GBL in rural schools. The results of the study show that technology can help provide a more varied and interactive learning process, for example through animations, educational applications, and digital platforms that display cultural elements in a more interesting way. GBL is an effective approach to increase learning enthusiasm, student involvement, and concept understanding through a directed game mechanism. When elements of local culture are integrated into educational games, learning activities become more meaningful, relevant to the student's environment, and fun. Overall, this study emphasizes that the combination of local wisdom, technology, and GBL has a strong potential in creating modern learning that is innovative, characterful, and still based on regional culture. In order for its implementation to run optimally, support is needed in the form of improving teacher competence, providing technological facilities, developing curriculums that are appropriate to the local context, and cooperation between schools, communities, and the government. The integration of these three aspects can be a strategic solution to improve the quality of education in rural areas.
