PREPARATION OF CERIUM CHLORIDE MICROCAPSULE AND ITS APPLICATION IN EPOXY COATING
The direct addition of some highly effective corrosion inhibitors into coatings has proven disappointing in improving their corrosion protection performances. Hence, we present a microencapsulation approach employing reverse emulsion polymerization. Cerium chloride, a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor, was used as the core material and urea resin as the shell material. Test results confirmed the successful synthesis and uniform dispersion of the cerium chloride-containing microcapsules in epoxy coating. The coating displayed improved anticorrosion performances on aluminum alloy in 3.5[Formula: see text]wt.% NaCl solution.
