Interdisciplinary Management of Fused and Supernumerary Teeth in Adolescence Patients using Hemisection Technique
A BSTRACT A fused anterior tooth is a rare developmental anomaly of the dental hard tissue. Fusion can cause tooth size arch length discrepancy and esthetic and functional problems. Following the review of the literature on tooth fusion, this is an unusual case of a fused lateral incisor and supernumerary tooth. Every case is unique and requires treatment plan accordingly. We planned endodontic treatment of hemisected fused tooth, followed by composite resin restoration and extraction of the supernumerary tooth contralateral side. This case presents the management of fused maxillary lateral incisor and supernumerary tooth by hemisection and medialization spring (m-spring) and extraction of supernumerary tooth followed by orthodontic alignment to establish the esthetics, function, and esthetically acceptable smile line.
