Effect of gradation in poisson’s ratio on beam deformation: A numerical study
Analysis of beams with inhomogeneous material is largely focused on understanding the effect of variation of Young’s modulus on various field parameters keeping Poisson’s ratio constant. Though this is correct for most of the current engineered inhomogeneous material, variation in Poisson’s ratio has the potential to further fine-tune such material. In this work, a numerical study has been carried out on the bending deformation of such beams having constant Young’s modulus but varying Poisson’s ratio. It has been observed that such variation has a significant effect on various strain fields.
