A Generative Grammar of Viable Futures
Finite agents operating under irreversible time must continuously terminate deliberationin order to act. Each termination irreversibly reshapes the space of feasible futures. Despiteextensive work in psychology, control, cybernetics, and artificial intelligence, few frameworksformalize the structural condition under which an agent remains viable at all. We introduce aminimal generative grammar of viable futures. The grammar is defined over admissible future trajectory geometry. We treat future inte-rior—the reopenable subset of admissible future trajectories—as a conserved viability invariant.A closed algebra of operators acts over this invariant, formalizing how future interior is expanded, preserved, consumed, and annihilated. A corresponding observable layer reports remaining, lost, and boundary-proximal interior. Sedimentation and collapse arise as geometric regimes of thisinvariant field. The grammar is substrate-independent and applies to biological, institutional, and artificial agents
