Secondary development modeling of HiGee absorption components based on HYSYS
Compared with the traditional carbon dioxide (CO2) removal process, the use of a rotating packed bed to absorb carbon dioxide has the advantages of a small footprint and light equipment weight. In this paper, the relevant components are constructed in HYSYS by applying the relevant mass transfer model to a HiGee machine, and the HiGee absorption process is incorporated into HYSYS by using the CO2 removal high-gravity component for secondary development. The modeling of the absorption process is verified by experimental data from the literature, and the errors in the removal rate are found to be less than ±12%. The effects of CO2/amine liquid ratio and the HiGee level of the rotor on the CO2 removal rate and mass transfer coefficient are studied. Taking a 20 wt. % monoethanolamine solution as an example, as the CO2/amine liquid ratio increases from 150 to 250 L/h, the CO2 content after removal decreases from 2031 to 1887 ppm, the CO2 removal rate increases from 53.84% to 57.10%, and the overall volumetric mass transfer coefficient increases from 9.87 to 10.81. With an increase in packing speed from 600 to 1400 rpm, the CO2 content of the product gas decreases from 2062 to 1887 ppm, the CO2 removal rate increases from 55.12% to 57.84%, and the overall volumetric mass transfer coefficient increases from 9.68 to 11.03. A similar trend is found for other concentrations of monoethanolamine solution, but with increasing concentration improving the CO2 absorption effect.
