Effect of Soybean Oil Extract on Damaged Hair

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the application of soybean oil to damaged hair after. Methods: Soybean oil formulations were prepared by adding 0, 3, 6, and 9 g of soybean oil extract to hair. The prepared formulation agent was applied to the damaged hair at eight levels. The results were measured, compared, and analyzed. To determine the change in the brightness of the hair, the L* value was measured with a chrominance meter. In addition, the tensile strength of the hair, its absorbance using methylene blue, and its gloss were measured to determine whether they affected the bleached hair. Results: There was an effect on the change in brightness of the damaged hair as measured by L* value. Measures of tensile strength showed a difference in the average across S(0), S(6), and S(9), and the results showed statistical significance. The absorbance measurements differed between S(0), S(6), and S(9), showing statistical significance. The differences in average values for gloss were statistically significant across S(0), S(6), and S(9), indicating an effect on the gloss change of the damaged hair. Conclusion: The application of soybean oil extract to damaged hair produced differences in tensile strength, absorbance, and gloss. Thus, soybean oil extract had an effect on the improvement of damaged hair. In the future, and it is necessary to further study how various natural extracts affect damaged hair.
