Numerical analysis of flow field and regulating characteristics in a sleeve rotary valve

Regulating valve is one of the important components for thrust control of rocket engine. In order to achieve accurate flow regulation and variable thrust control, it is necessary to have a deeper understanding of the operating characteristics of the regulating valve. Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the flow field in a sleeve rotary valve for fuel flow control is simulated in three dimensions. Through the static simulation of the regulating valve with different opening and pressure ratio, the operating characteristics of mass flow rate, flow resistance coefficient, sleeve force, and sleeve torque are obtained. And the flow field under different working conditions is analyzed. The dynamic simulation of the opening process of the valve under different opening speeds is carried out to obtain the change of flow rate, sleeve torque and other parameters with time. And the dynamic characteristics of the valve are compared with the static characteristics. By analyzing the regulating characteristics of the sleeve rotary valve, this study aims to provide reference for the use and design of this new type of valve.
