Evaluation of the effectiveness of benzydamine hydrochloride in comprehensive therapy after dental implant surgery
Objective. The aim of the study was to perform a comparative assessment of the clinical effectiveness and patient compliance of the tablet form of benzydamine hydrochloride versus conventional topical therapy in the postoperative period following dental implant surgery. Materials and methods. A prospective open-label comparative non-randomized study was conducted involving 40 patients. The main group (n=20) received Oralsept (Gedeon Richter) in the form of lozenges, while the comparison group (n=20) received standard topical treatments. Evaluation methods included patient questionnaires, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and clinical examination findings. Results. Clinical efficacy indicators were comparable between the two groups. However, the main group demonstrated significantly higher compliance (95% vs. 35%; p<0.001) and a shorter mean duration of systemic analgesic use (2.1±0.3 days vs. 4.2±0.7 days; p<0.05). Conclusions. The tablet form of benzydamine hydrochloride Oralsept (Gedeon Richter) shows clinical effectiveness comparable to traditional topical therapy, while providing significant advantages in treatment adherence and reducing the duration of systemic analgesic use. The drug may be recommended for inclusion in postoperative management protocols for patients in outpatient oral surgery practice.
