An overview of hepatic artery aneurysm: a rare source of abdominal pain
Abstract Hepatic artery aneurysms (HAAs) are uncommon, representing roughly 20% of all visceral aneurysms. Their true prevalence is difficult to determine because many patients remain asymptomatic. Historically, management relied primarily on surgical intervention, tailored to the patient’s overall condition and comorbidities. With advances in interventional radiology, however, most visceral aneurysms are now managed using angiography with subsequent stent placement or coil embolization. In this report, we describe the case of an asymptomatic patient with a HAA and provide a concise review of hepatic aneurysms, including their incidence, diagnostic approach, management strategies, and recommended follow-up. The goal of this publication is to help clarify when intervention is appropriate for these lesions.
