Symbiogogy: a co-evolutionary learning paradigm beyond heutagogy in medical education
Abstract The shift from pedagogy to andragogy, and then to heutagogy, reflects increasing learner autonomy. However, heutagogy still focuses on the individual as the main point, without considering relational, technological, and ecological interdependences. I coined the term symbiogogy to describe a new approach that frames learning within the symbiotic ecosystem of human learners, educators, artificial intelligence, and communities. This paper explores the theoretical framework of symbiogogy, its core principles, and practical uses, with examples from medical education.
