Fe/Co-MOFs@PDA: A High-Efficiency Bimetallic Nanoplatform for Synergistic Photothermal/Chemodynamic Cancer Therapy

Cancer therapy remains a central challenge in medical research, and multimodal synergistic therapy strategies based on composite materials represent a clinically proven approach. In this study, a bimetallic MOF was synthesized via a hydrothermal method, followed by surface modification with polydopamine (PDA) to construct the multifunctional nanoplatform Fe/Co-MOFs@PDA. Utilizing PDA as a photothermal agent, the platform achieves a photothermal conversion efficiency of 68.32% under 808 nm laser irradiation, demonstrating potent photothermal therapy (PTT) effects. Furthermore, it catalyzes the conversion of H2O2 into cytotoxic hydroxyl radicals (•OH) through Fenton-like reactions in the tumor microenvironment, enabling effective chemodynamic therapy (CDT). Moreover, in vivo experiments confirm its significant tumor suppression efficacy. This nanoplatform thus emerges as a promising high-efficiency multimodal cancer therapeutic strategy, offering perspectives for clinical translation.
