Linked color imaging in the diagnosis of esophageal-gastric junction pathology
Background. The use of videoendoscopic technology forms the basis for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. «Linked color imaging» (LCI) is a new technology of intense short-wave radiation and digital processing that emphasizes the slightest differences in the color of the examined area and provides better color contrast within the red color range. Objective. Evaluation of the effectiveness of linked color imaging technology in endoscopic diagnostics of diseases of the esophagogastric junction. Material and methods. The study included 100 patients who underwent video esophagogastroduodenoscopy using Linked color imaging technology and targeted biopsy. A comparison of the color contrast of the LCI mode and examination in white light was made. Results. During the study, samples of areas of hyperplasia, intestinal and gastric metaplasia of the esophagus were obtained in combination with and without background inflammation. Conclusion. Based on the conducted study, it can be stated that LCI, used as an additional mode in standard esophagogastroduodenoscopy, has a high color contrast useful in the diagnosis of inflammatory diseases and epithelial abnormalities of the upper gastrointestinal tract
