The category of the person as a means of expressing the speaker's attitude towards the listener in a media text
Among the relevant tasks of modern semantic syntax is the study of how the semantics of statements and texts is realized in different speech spheres and in different forms of speech. In this regard, a merging of semantic syntax and media linguistics occurs. Depending on the researcher’s interests, the starting point in the scientific work can be the functioning of the text as a means of mass communication or the syntactic structure of linguistic units determined by the type, genre, and sphere of text functioning; this position is presented in the current work. The aim of the study is to answer the question of how the speaker uses the grammatical category of person to express their attitude towards the listener in the media text. The object of the study consists of fragments of media texts in which the author's attitude towards the addressee is expressed, while the subject of the research is the actualization category of person as a means of expressing this attitude. Methods employed in the work include general scientific methods of observation and comparison, as well as linguistic methods of semantic, pragmatic, and contextual analysis. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the starting point for studying the author's relationship with the addressee in specific media texts is the grammatical category of person, demonstrating how a creative linguistic personality constructs a complex image of the addressee through the use of the possibilities of Russian grammar. The area of application for the results includes semantic syntax, morphology, and media linguistics. The actualization category of person is closely related to the pragmatics of the media text. Our research has shown that negative evaluations are more categorical in statements in the second-person form. The use of the pronoun 'we' with the meaning of 'I + you' and the actualization category of the third person, where the addressee is not named in the statement but is implied, shows that the subject denoted by a noun in the nominative case is, to some extent, also the addressee of the text; such techniques for constructing media texts significantly soften the negative evaluation, making it more polite and less offensive to the addressee. Imperative statements in the second-person form serve to encourage certain actions and to draw attention to the most significant fragments of the text, and the categorical nature of such statements is justified by the authority of the author, who possesses deep knowledge of the issue being discussed and has the right to influence the audience.
